Why does my 2000 VW Passat not want to start?

I have had it not quite a year and have had lots of trouble with it starting. I have taken it to the dealer and they have put it on their diagnostic machine and have come up with nothing. I do get the check engine light all the time and a notice of emissions check. What does that mean? I,m desparate, I love to drive it when it's not acting up but this is getting really frusturating. That doesn't make much sense. Have you had it back to the dealer since the check engine light came on? That should put a malfuction code in the computer and tell them what's wrong with it. If you took it to the dealer before the check engine light came on, then, they would not find anything on the diagnostic. The sensors are very faulty. I have had many sensors trigger the check engine light. Its a pain in the you know what! All the cars are controlled by computers now and it makes the car even more difficult to fix these days! My husband and i have nothing but Volkswagen's but nothing newer than 1989, the new cars went because of the sensors you are dealing with, I said "no more". I have a Gulf and my Husband has a 70 bus. Easy to work on and no computer. New technology is a horror to deal with, I'm so sorry you have this trouble.Why does my 2000 VW Passat not want to start?
I have a similar problem with my Golf, it everyother day can not start.

The solution was given in a VW taller, they change the 'Sonda Lamb'.

I do not what does it mean? or in which part of the car is locate? but it works. until now no more problems. Thanks to the Lord.!

does it sound like it wants to start(likes cranks normally or does it do nothing when you turn the key. Is your check engine light on when you drive or comes on then goes off after a few seconds? Did the dealer ever find any codes present in the computer and if so what were they. Give me symptoms and any other info you have. Be as specific as possible
