How much is my First Act VW Garagemaster guitar worth?

I have a First Act Volkswagen Garagemaster electric guitar that I won for free. However, it's a right-handed guitar, and I'm a lefty. I want to sell it on eBay, so how much should I sell it for?...Need to get a LH guitar. How much is my First Act VW Garagemaster guitar worth? While you have a promotional guitar that is probably a quite decent axe, First Act has a deservedly bad reputation because of the guitars they were building for Walmart. In case you are still drinking the Koolaid, Walmart gets companies to make things for them at the price Walmart wants to pay for them. Therefore, the quality suffers. Just compare a pair of Levis from Walmart with a pair bought from J.C. Penny to see what I mean. First Act's biggest mistake was putting their name on the headstock, instead of one created for the Walmart models.

That said, not many people would be willing to pay more than $50 for it, if you can get that. I have two First Act flat tops that I can't even sell for that, despite they are Like new and have been adjusted to play well.

Since you have a First Act custom shop guitar, my advice to you would be to keep it and learn to play it. I would also recommend that you try to learn to play right handed. Even though it may feel strange at first, you will be glad you did, if you succeed. The reasons are:

1) Your left hand is more dexterous and is better suited to being on the neck of the guitar. If you can get past it feeling weird at first, you will be a better player in the long run.

2) Most guitars are set up for right hand. If you play right handed you can play most guitars. This will allow you to participate in impromptu jam sessions, where you might not have your guitar with you, but a spare is available for you to borrow.

3) If you get good enough to be in a band and your guitar is lost, stolen or broken at the last minute, you will more easily be able to buy or borrow a substitute to make your gig.

4) If you plan on using tab, almost all are written for right hand and can be confusing for a left hand player.

If you can't get past the weird feeling, there is no shame in having a right handed guitar set up for left hand. Tony Iommi recorded all the classic Black Sabbath (original line up) with a right handed Gibson SG, set up lefty. Also, Jimi Hendrix made most of his recordings with a right handed Fender Stratocaster, set up lefty. These guys are both innovators and legends and this is just two examples of many.

Keep what you have and learn to play. It's a decent guitar, but it won't fetch you enough to buy a used left hand model. I can't stress enough to try right handed first. If you succeed, it will be well worth it.

Unfortunately First Act's just ain't worth a lot. yours isn't a run of the mill Target or Walmart special but it's not a Gibson either, most people dont know that First Act actually has a custom shop and does make some very nice guitars, yours is a promotional issue and has some very nice features, but it's still a First Act, my guess is anywhere between $150 and $200, personally I'd hang on to it, and if you do decide to hang on to it and not play it, remove the battery for the active pick up so it doesn't corrode and ruin the guitarHow much is my First Act VW Garagemaster guitar worth?I will give you the same advice that I give all of my left handed students, learn to play right handed. Here is why:

#1 you will be putting your more coordinated hand on the neck! (left hand) This gives you a big advantage over right handers! While right handed people are struggling to train their left hand to finger the neck you will be able to quickly start playing and will progress much faster!

#2 virtually all written material for guitar is written from the right hand perspective.

#3 most guitars are built as right handed (as you already know)

There are a lot of lefties who learned right handed and are glad they did. It may feel a bit weird at first but you will quickly get used to it.How much is my First Act VW Garagemaster guitar worth?
Not a great deal, as first Act guitar have a (deservedly) bad reputation.

If you don't yet play you might want to consider learning to play right handed. Many lefties do just that and it's a smart thing to do. Both hands have an important job to do and if anything, fretting is the more challenging task. You would be doing that with your dominant hand, which is a distinct advantage. How much is my First Act VW Garagemaster guitar worth?About $10.

Sell it to some unsuspecting local, but expect very little for it. First Act is a knock-off brand that usually sells at Walmart %26amp; other like shops. How much is my First Act VW Garagemaster guitar worth?
FIRST ACT GUITARS are not even worth the effort to CARRY TO THE DUMPSTER.. they are just TOTAL JUNK.. if you get an offer for $5 then TAKE IT.
Is it possible you could just restring it backwards?
