On a 1971 VW Super Beattle, How do you remove the headlight wiring when removing the fender?You need a thin shim to unplug the wires from the connector. The wires push in from the back of the connector. If tou look in from the front of the connector you will see there is a small catch that holds the terminal in the connector. File down a small screwdriver like you might use to tighten the screws on a pair of glasses. File it down flat and push it in there and it should let go by pulling the wire from the back. When you go to plug the wires back in you may need to bend the little tang back out a bit so it will catch and lock. Be sure to make a sketch of what color wire goes in where so you can get them back in the same place.
