I doubt there would be many other changes necessary, as VW tends to standardize, and if the same parts can be used, they do. I doubt the radiator was different even. Can you put a vr6 engine from a 97 vw golf into a 4 cylinder 98 vw jetta gl?I'm 90% sure that the engine mounts are located differently on the V6.Can you put a vr6 engine from a 97 vw golf into a 4 cylinder 98 vw jetta gl?it shouldn't be that hard, I've seen VR6 swaps done in more obscure things. some Jettas already came with VR6s, so you'll need the motor mounts from one. also, you'll need the ECU from the Golf and possibly a radiator change.

Can you put a vr6 engine from a 97 vw golf into a 4 cylinder 98 vw jetta gl?
I was wondering if a 4 cylinder could be taken out and the 6 cylinder put in and how difficult do you think it would be? I would have to change the wiring harness out right? What else would i have to change? Can you put a vr6 engine from a 97 vw golf into a 4 cylinder 98 vw jetta gl?I just looked it up, and the motor mounts are the same. Surprisingly, it is only the Cabrio that has a different front mount.
