Can you replace a VW front light without paying dealer costs and fixing it yourself?

Or is this risky and can potentially damage the car? I'm a girl and don't know much about cars, I'm just tired of dishing out at least 40 bucks everytime my front left light goes out- and its always the same one.

Your owners manual should detail the process of changing a bulb for your particular model. Now, VW might use a proprietary bulb design that might force you to buy the bulb from them, but you can still put it in yourself.



The only car I can think of which most people can't change a bulbs on is the latest generation of Chevy Malibu, which requires that you take off the entire bumper cover to access the bulbs.
