Is it possible to change the manual air conditioning in a 2004 VW Bora to the automatic climatronic type? How?

I know I would need the control unit for the dash and also a wiring harness. Is that all?

Many thanksIs it possible to change the manual air conditioning in a 2004 VW Bora to the automatic climatronic type? How?You would probably need more than that. The temp sensor would need to be wired up, the control unit head and I think a different comfort control module would also be needed. It would be a lot of work, truthfully, the manual a/c is better than the climatronic control and is for sure less trouble prone.

It would require several hours of wiring modification, the control head, possibly different control valves for the doors (some controls are still wire operated or vacuum operated in the manual mode a/c; if my memory is correct, some of the door motors are electric on climatronic control), I doubt that it would be worth the expense and effort. Many people complain that climatronic control has to be "manually overridden" to produce enough hot or cold air quickly. Indeed, I used to teach people how to override the system and make it work the way they wanted. Also the control head and comfort (body) control module aren't cheap either and this would require expensive parts.

Leave it be; you don't realize how good you have it. At the dealership that I last worked at, people moaned and groaned about how poor the system worked. It was even worse on the earlier Passats! Is it possible to change the manual air conditioning in a 2004 VW Bora to the automatic climatronic type?
