My Gas guage doesn't work so I have no Idea how much gas I have. I do record the miles each time I fill it up though.How many miles per tank can I get with a 1972 VW Super Beetle?fill it up, record the mileage, run it out of gas,

I HAVE A 72 SUPER AND I AVERAGE 27 MPG BUT IT RUNS LIKE CRAP. MY FRIEND IS A MECH W/ A 72 SUPER AND HE GETS 44 MPG. WE ARE GOING TO WORK ON MINE THIS WEEKEND. BUT I THINK YOU SHOULD INVEST IN A GUAGE. IT WILL SAVE YOU THE HEADACHE.

How many miles per tank can I get with a 1972 VW Super Beetle?I'd say that 15mpg is what your getting , so multiply fuel tank capacity-(full tank glns.X 15 for your estimated miles you can travel). 10glns X 15mpg = 150 miles. I've seen some poor running manual shift automatics get only 10mpg.How many miles per tank can I get with a 1972 VW Super Beetle?
According to VW literature, the '72 Super beetle gets 26 MPG with 1/2 load at about 55 MPH !

Your gas gage may not work, but you do have an owners manual. It will list the capacity of the fuel tank. Probably 12-15 gal. divide this by your expected milage to get number of miles. Probably 300-400 miles.
Hmmm, my gas gauge doesn't work on my 69 VW either. I use a stick to measure how much gas is in the tank. Not a real wonderful thing to do, but it works for me =}
