Where can I find a replacement headlight bulb for my 2004 vw beetle?

It is the driver side and I need the low beam. I've gone to O'Reilly and Autozone and they gave me the high beams, I guess that is all they have for that. The dealership tells me I can't get the bulb on my own, and I am not paying $60 to replace it. Please help!Where can I find a replacement headlight bulb for my 2004 vw beetle?you need an H1 12V 55W bulb. can find them at you local auto store. I believe both the High Beam and the Low Beam are the same bulb type. However you want to be sure that you get nothing over 55W or it will end up melting the wiring to the headlight. dont ask me how i know. And the dealer is lying to you. You should be able to replace both bulbs for about 30 bux. You can change the bulb yourself if you are inclined to do so. Not hard at all to do. Just pop the hood, and you will find two levers on the right, just behind the headlight, flip them both upwards. One you have to kind of rotate with the fixture (it can be very hard sometimes.) Once this is done, the headlight should be sticking out a little bit. Pull it out. Disconnect the headlight from the wire connection. I forgot, remove the back cover, not hard to figure out. Oops. The low beam light is the bulb closest to you. Flip the metal wire holing it in and take the bulb out. Put the new one in (without touching the bulb itself) like the other one was. Everything else is just reverse.Where can I find a replacement headlight bulb for my 2004 vw beetle?nearest dealership, might be costly though.
