Is there a way to use 85 ethynol in a 1979 VW bug?

I just need to know what I will have to change so I don't wreck the engine. Is there a way to use 85 ethynol in a 1979 VW bug?In order to make the change, you may have to replace fuel lines, fuel pump, tank, and carb. this is because ethanol is corrosive to certain materials (rubber, aluminum, among others). (oh, you will HAVE to replace the fuel filter. the ethanol cleans your components and gets the dirt from your tank to flow toward the engine.)

You really should do a google for E85 conversion. Also, it is true that you could get up to a 30% drop in fuel milage, because ethanol releases less energy. You will probably end up with quite a bit more horsepower in the end though.

Also, look around your area for Ethanol pumps, and compare the prices to unleaded. some locations it really pays to switch over, but often you will only get like 20 cents a gallon off...

Before anything, (but after reading about it online) most newer vehicles can actually switch over to 20% ethanol with no upgrades. For a complete switchover, more gas will need to get into the cylinders for combustion.

You know that originally 4 stroke engines were designed for use with alchohol? Is there a way to use 85 ethynol in a 1979 VW bug?No, it will rruin the engine and eat up all gaskets. Is there a way to use 85 ethynol in a 1979 VW bug?NO- You will loose 30% of your gas mileage if you use ethanol. Is there a way to use 85 ethynol in a 1979 VW bug?
you will have to change the jetting in the carburator to run a little richer. takes more e85 than gas to run.
