I have a 97 VW Jetta GT, and I was changing the bushing on my car. I did the right one with ease, removed the control arm and replaced it. Now I am having troubles with the left one, it is slightly different. One of the screws does not have enough space and I can't remove it because of this.
Please Help!?How to change left control arm bushing on VW Jetta? If you are talking about an automatic transmission and the clearance in the bolt to the tranny. This has been a plague since the mk1's.
You either have to loosen the drivers side transmission mounts and jack up the engine from underneath, or use a engine lift to lift it for the proper clearance. There is no other way that I know of.
The Bentley/Haynes both state that for the drivers side control arm.
