How do I fix my 2001 VW Beetle's drivers side window?

What's wrong with it?How do I fix my 2001 VW Beetle's drivers side window?Hi It sounds like the window regulator has failed and will probably need replacing, though having removed it you may be able to affect a temporary repair If you have the tools and some mechanical know how below is a brief description on how to remove the regulator to refit is the reverse operation. If you would like the pictures to help from the workshop manual email me and I will email them back please also state if it is a hard or soft top. Other wise unfortunately it鈥檚 a trip to the garage.

Remove front door trim, remove lock cylinder housing and unclip the clip from the door handle. Lever out the cover caps; lower the door window until door window securing bolts are accessible. Loosen the bolts and press the clamps apart. Slide the door window upwards and secure with adhesive tape. Remove release lever for lid lock, remove A-pillar lower trim and separate multi-pin connections on the A-pillar. Take the cover for the wiring harness out of body opening in the inner A-pillar and then pull the wiring harness out of the A-pillar at the bellows between the door and the A-pillar. Disconnect connection for exterior mirror and unhook wiring from the sub-frame then remove the screw and unhook wiring harness guide from the door and guide the wiring harness with bellows through door. Remove bolts pull top of assembly carrier off door, raise and lift out of door to hinge side of door. Turn assembly carrier and pull connector off door lock.

The bolts should be tightened to 8 Nm for the majority and 10 Nm for the clamping bolts.

After refitting run the window all the way to the top then all the way back down to relearn the basic settings.

Kind regards Technical
